I don't know if 2CO is any good but Pay Pal has a very well known reputation. Now 2CO could be better but I usually go with he more well known product unless I can 100% verify that the alternative is better.

2checkout = worth every penny to be able to sleep at night knowing you positively WILL get the payment, that they will not hold it (try selling on eBay, they hold the money for 21 days or until 3 days AFTER person receives the product if you input tracking details! how do you pay for shipping if they keep the money???)

I sold something on eBay, shipped the product within HOURS of getting the buyer's payment. You'd think that would be good enough to get the money the next day, or at least the day the post office actually delivered it. (I got signature confirmation on the package, I KNOW when post(wo)man delivered!) No, they made me wait another 3 days AFTER! And that's AFTER inputting tracking details the same day I shipped.

Think you will have it better if you only sell digital products and stay away from eBay? Ha! The buyer of a digital product can pay you, take your product, use the product, and then dispute the charges. Don't think that's a bad thing? What if you sold a domain name or a website? With Paypal, your domain is just GONE!

Heck, somebody sold a violin on eBay . . . it had survived World War II and was a verified antique. The buyer paid, got the violin, felt they paid too much AFTER they got the violin, and then instead of returning it they disputed it as a FAKE violin (whiskey tango foxtrot, there is no such thing as a FAKE violin!), and Paypal told the buyer that they only way they could get their $1,200+ dollars back was if they DESTROYED the violin! So the buyer, having been given the OK now to destroy something that possibly survived Auschwitz, not only destroyed it, they took a picture of it and emailed it to the seller. This thing had been in the seller's family for GENERATIONS, and because of Paypal's ignorance, it is now GONE. Not gone as in the money is gone, but now the seller will never have it again. Guess what? They ALSO don't have the MONEY, either! Because since the buyer is claiming FAKE, now Paypal is trying to say that they violated VERO and were selling copyrighted, protected products! Ever try COPYRIGHTING a violin??? Yeah. Good luck on that one, too. Doesn't matter; some twit at Paypal is authority over all, even though certified experts who had appraised the violin prior to the listing had ESTABLISHED it was not a fake.

The only saving grace if someone attempts to steal a domain name or website from you is the DMCA. If you are ripped off by a buyer who then gets Paypal to reverse the transaction so they have the money and the product, too, is for you to constantly do those take-down notices with their hostiing provider and domain registrar. Those sites that are stolen like that are zapped pretty quickly by the hosting company, and sometimes frozen by the domain registrar when you DMCA-notify them. Why? They've got deeper pockets; if the don't take it down, now they are contributing to the theft. That's a felony if the value goes over a certain dollar amount in many states in the US. Because it's the internet, it's "wire fraud". Wire fraud is one of those things banks are supposed to guard against that goes right along with "money laundering". If you can trace back to their bank, you can then get the hosting provider or the bank into a lot of hot water; trust me, those guys take that site down pretty quick when you tell them about it.

Never mind the whole DMCA takedown stuff. Paypal shouldn't put you in that place in the first place.

Now you're probably wondering, if I dislike Paypal so much (major understatement there!), especially with eBay too, then why did I sell my stuff there that way? And I'll tell you. It was something I originally bought on eBay, something I wasn't sure I could sell via Craigslist locally and get a quick sale, and I no longer needed this item so I wanted to get as much as I possibly could for it. That led me back to eBay/Paypal. Also, I just didn't feel like doing the old "meet and greet" and possibly even haggle, to get it sold when the price I listed it for was a bargain. But trust me, I thought long and hard before I clicked that "submit" button on that eBay sell listing!

And besides, like somebody else said earlier, you can sign up for 2checkout, and let THEM take any payments from people who want to use Paypal to pay. So you lose nothing. And yet you have this protection that doesn't have the potential of screwing up your financial life and you can sleep at night. All for only $49 dollars. One time payment.

I been ripped off buying a website with paypal. Paypal told me that they don't protect you from digital products transactions. So they found in favour of the seller and I lost $800

Even though the site he gave me was nothing like the one advertised. This is the only problems I've had with Paypal
